This release is the first on iOS, and comes with several improvements and bug fixes:
App Store release
As we are getting closer to the shipment of the first BitBox02 Nova devices, final tweaks of the BitBoxApp for iOS are in full swing. The BitBoxApp is now available for download on the Apple App Store, with the initial release dating a few weeks back already. The Lucerne update is now packed with many additional improvements and bug fixes for the iOS app.

Please note that the App Store version can only be used with the new BitBox02 Nova, as Apple does not allow unrestricted communication over USB. This means you cannot connect the original BitBox02 with the BitBoxApp on iPhone or iPad. Learn more.
Mobile UI improvements
Many general improvements to the mobile user interface have been made, which are included both on Android and iOS. The most noticeable change is the new navigation bar, enabling direct access to the Portfolio, Accounts, Buy & sell and settings. A much more accessible way of navigating the BitBoxApp on smartphones compared to the previous expandable sidebar.

As accounts are not listed in the sidebar anymore, they are now grouped in the Account tab and can be quickly accessed from there. Several smaller tweaks and changes have been made across the mobile version, making the user experience as smooth as possible.
Self-transfers across accounts
To improve validation of transactions that are sent to addresses of the same account, also known as self-transfers, the BitBox currently displays “This BitBox” in front of addresses it knows belong to itself. This especially made consolidation transactions easier to verify, but previously only worked within the same account the transaction is sent from.

With the Lucerne update, this feature is extended to all Bitcoin accounts within the same wallet. For example, if you send a transaction from the first account to the second account of your wallet, the BitBox will now display “This BitBox (account #2)” when verifying the transaction, making self-transfers across your accounts both more convenient and safe at the same time.
Offline detection
Instead of displaying error messages – or no information at all while no wallet is loaded – the BitBoxApp now shows a banner once it notices there is no connection to the internet. Only when the connection has been re-established, the app will attempt to fetch transactions and balances again.

Miscellaneous improvements
This release also comes with several bug fixes and smaller improvements:
- Fixed a bug on macOS where U2F could not be used in Safari and Firefox. This also means that U2F can now be used regularly over USB on iPhone and iPad as well!
- Added the receiving date to UTXO details in Coin Control.
- Changed the file type of exported notes to JSON Lines, as per BIP-329 and our blog post.
- The BTC/sat switch has been removed from the settings, and the two denominations can now be toggled by simply clicking on them on the account overview – similar to how you can toggle between active Fiat currencies.
- Disabled Tor proxy settings on iOS, as the current approach of connecting to a local Tor socket does not work. We are looking into alternatives.
- Software keystores can now be unlocked in Testnet mode without connecting a BitBox.
- Enabled message signing for Testnet and Regtest.
- Fixed a bug that would prevent firmware upgrades on the BitBox when offline.
- Fixed wrong transaction confirmation estimations for ERC20 token.
- Added several EVMs to known networks.

Don’t own a BitBox yet?
Keeping your crypto secure doesn't have to be hard. The BitBox hardware wallets store the private keys for your cryptocurrencies offline. So you can manage your coins safely.
Both the BitBox02 Nova and the BitBox02 also come in a Bitcoin-only edition, featuring a radically focused firmware: less code means less attack surface, which further improves your security when only storing bitcoin.

Lake Lucerne
Also known as “Vierwaldstättersee” in German, Lake Lucerne stretches its arms across the borders of five different cantons of Switzerland – just like the BitBoxApp being available on five major platforms now!
If you ever find yourself in the vicinity, you should consider taking the “Dragon Ride” or the world’s steepest cogwheel railway to the top of mount Pilatus, and enjoy the incredible view on Lake Lucerne.
